Volunteer

1. Support adapted cyclists at race events.
2. Support operational logistics of NCAS and NCAS partner race events, e.g., registration, trail set up, check in, trail spotters, etc.

Help NC Adapted Sports maintain its cycling fleet.

Knowledge of the following is preferred:

1. Gear tuning
2. Brake tuning (cable & hydraulic)
3. Tubeless tire set up.
4. Tire tube replacement
5. Properly use a torque wrench
6. Drive hub rebuild.

You will learn the specifics of handcycle adjustment, maintenance, and upkeep.

1. Solicit sponsors and corporate sponsors for NCAS Programming
2. Operational Logistics of NCAS fundraising events, e.g., dinners, walk-roll-ride events, sponsors for races or tournaments.
3. Recruiting volunteers to help with front end roles at events, e.g., athlete/donor check in at events, event set-up and break down, etc.

Building culvert crossing and rerouting the trail

Harris Lake Bridge 6 Project

We will be installing a culvert crossing, demolitionishing a bridge and rerouting the trail.

8:30 - 12:30 p.m.

1. Support coaches during practice with drills, scrimmages, etc.
2. Help teach new athletes sport chair basics.
3. Help with NCAS tournament operational logistics, e.g., recruiting volunteers, athlete/team check in, set up, break down etc.

Provide support and guidance for adapted cyclists. The following roles will happen on a typical trail ride:

1. Help adapted cyclists determine the right lines through technical features.
2. Spot adapted cyclist through technical features, e.g., hill ascents, navigating rooty sections, cross slopes.
3. If requested by athlete, help with chair to cycle to chair transfers.
4. Pre-ride unrated trails to determine the cyclist skill level required for that trail.
5. Be able to perform repairs while on the trail, e.g., tire, chain, or minor cycle repair.

1. Identify and assess trails for potential adapted cycling programs.
2. Advocate and collaborate with the authority that maintains a trail system to make modifications that will create universal accessibility.
3. Help with trail rehabilitation to create universal accessibility, e.g., rebuilding bridges, widening trails sections, creating bypasses around features, etc.
