Description

Help NC Adapted Sports maintain its cycling fleet.

Knowledge of the following is preferred:

  1. Gear tuning
  2. Brake tuning (cable & hydraulic)
  3. Tubeless tire set up.
  4. Tire tube replacement
  5. Properly use a torque wrench
  6. Drive hub rebuild.

You will learn the specifics of handcycle adjustment, maintenance, and upkeep.

Trail Support Riders
Description

Provide support and guidance for adapted cyclists. The following roles will happen on a typical trail ride:

  1. Help adapted cyclists determine the right lines through technical features.
  2. Spot adapted cyclist through technical features, e.g., hill ascents, navigating rooty sections, cross slopes.
  3. If requested by athlete, help with chair to cycle to chair transfers.
  4. Pre-ride unrated trails to determine the cyclist skill level required for that trail.
  5. Be able to perform repairs while on the trail, e.g., tire, chain, or minor cycle repair.

  2. Advocate and collaborate with the authority that maintains a trail system to make modifications that will create universal accessibility.
  3. Help with trail rehabilitation to create universal accessibility, e.g., rebuilding bridges, widening trails sections, creating bypasses around features, etc.
